That's how you switch between audio devices, your headphones are USB so they have their own DAC and they are their own separate audio device (I have a few.) if you have 3.5mm speakers and 3.5mm headphones you can usually switch by plugging in the headphones (either into your front audio port, or if your speaker has a 3.5mm port plug them into that.
